About the Role
Identify, recruit, interview and match 50 trained and screened Adult Mentors with Project program participants (Mentees) annually
Make weekly site visits to Neighborhood Interaction Trust Centers per Project Mentor/Mentee Recruitment Marketing Plan
Respond to critical incidents, such as shootings and homicides, and to de-escalate tension and reduce/address threats of violence
Maintain on-call crisis staff to respond to shooting incidents 24 hours per day, seven days per week to receive notification of shooting incidents from the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) Crime Prevention and Information Center (CPIC).
Respond in person to the incident within one hour and document the CPIC notification, time received, the response time, and outcome.
Provide guidance to Project participants.
Monitor and evaluate Project participants' progress toward successful completion of program requirements.
Participate in care conferences involving cooperation with other community agencies.
Make referrals to public or private agencies with appropriate follow-up.
Serve as liason between school, family, and community agencies.
Assist Case Managers with preparation and maintenance of Case Management files for Project Adult mentors.
Serves as source of information regarding community resources and provides written reports and communications.
Participate as a resource person in in-service training and planning.
Act as consultant to resolve problems.
Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings, monthly Group Mentoring Sessions, monthly P.E.A.C.E meetings, and monthly Community Violence Prevention Strategy Forums.
Assist in the preparation of staff monthly desk audits.
Prepare written monthly and quarterly reports of all work performed.
3 to 5 Years' experience with community outreach work with community-based and/or non-profit organizations.
Willing to travel within city as required.
Willing to work additional hours and/or evenings on occassion.
Associate's Degree in counseling, sociology, social work, education or related field such as Psychology

The Ready4Life Community Outreach Street Workers under administrative supervision by the Project Director are responsible for the recruitment, screening, and matching of Adult Mentors with Project participants ("Mentee") and mediate conflicts and prevent retaliatory violence between those who are at risk to commit or to become the victims of firearm violence. Ready4Life Community Outreach Street Workers will engage with high-risk individuals in a variety of settings, including parks, homes, street corners, community centers, schools, hospitals, etc. Street outreach efforts are typically conducted in the afternoons, evenings, or at night. Performs other related duties as assigned.
